Key Stage One pupils from ten Acorn schools took to The Bath Forum stage in June as part of the second Key Stage One West Wilts Dance Festival.

Across the three days, 34 schools from across West Wiltshire took part in the festival, with a total of 516 dancers showing their moves to an audience of friends and family. All schools were tasked to perform a dance to the theme of ‘Books’ and spent the last term learning their routines in PE class or through after school clubs. The pupils from Dilton Marsh, Great Wishford, Heytesbury, Keevil, New Close, Rowde, St John’s, The Avenue, Wansdyke and West Ashton all performed on Thursday 22nd June and were treated to a special Key Stage 3 guest performance from Kingdown students.

Once again, the festival was supported by Acorn Dance Crew students from Kingdown School who were responsible for a wide range of tasks across the event, from chaperoning to leading group activities.  They were also supported by Year 5 - 6 Dance Crew who received training in the morning to support their own school in the afternoon and evening.

Selwyn Widger, School Games Organiser for West Wilts and Acorn PE Coordinator, commented: “I would like to thank everyone who took part in the event as well as all the staff and leaders who made the event possible.  A fun filled festival with great dancing, energy and support for other schools in the trust.  A special mention goes to Year 5’s Mia and Kaleb from Heytesbury who hosted the event!”

A big well done to all the Acorn pupils who took part in the festival and congratulate the staff who made it another huge success.
