Curriculum and Expertise
We strongly believe that schools are stronger when they work together towards a common goal; for Acorn Education Trust that goal is to deliver high quality education for all students.
To achieve this, we have introduced an all-through fully sequenced curriculum that defines the skills and knowledge for each year group. It ensures consistency, while providing teachers with a framework to work flexibly in way that’ll resonate best with their individual students.
We also have expert curriculum specialists who work across the Trust who use their experience and knowledge to support, advise and gain the best student’s outcomes. They work across all Trust schools and are on hand to help with any queries or challenges.
Training and Professional Development
At Acorn Education Trust we want our staff to reach their full potential and achieve their professional goals, whether that’s to be a future Headteacher, senior leader, business manager or specialist within their chosen field.
We put great emphasis on staff development for all teaching and business staff. All staff are actively encouraged to engage in their own Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and there is a generous training budget available that they can access. Our staff regularly attend external training sessions, to help them improve their skills and professionally develop, along with internal sessions which run to share good practice, knowledge and experiences.
All staff receive fair and consistent appraisals to help them develop further. Additionally, we also tailored programmes and mentorship to ensure ongoing professional development.
Staff Wellbeing
As a Trust we understand the joy that comes with working with and education children, but we’re also aware it comes with its challenges. For this reason, our staff’s wellbeing is a huge priority for us.
Through our supportive and inclusive peer mentor system, we’re able to offer a comprehensive induction to the Trust and the support networks in place for each new member of staff. Each of our schools have a wellbeing lead who are able to help with any challenges our staff are facing, from work related concerns or emotional support.
We understand the importance in allowing staff to balance their workload and personal life. To help with this we have family friendly policies, flexible working options, optional staff sports and fitness and actively encourage attendance at family events.
The Trust Family
As a growing Trust family, there is a multitude of opportunities for career development and growth within Acorn Education Trust. Across our twelve schools and four nurseries there is a pre-existing, collaborative network which operates regular sessions to share best practice and knowledge.
Our staff are encouraged and challenged to achieve their professional goals, and have access to resources and sessions to support them to succeed. We run Cross-Trust training and social events, to help our staff develop their own networks and develop their own connections.
We are a relationship driven, values orientated and constantly improving Trust and believe in investing in our staff and our schools. We work hard to ensure schools have access to modern resources and the latest technological innovations so that they can deliver outstanding lessons for their students.
