A poem for our soldiers
During last year's remembrance of the end of World War I, St Johns School joined in by encouraging its pupils to learn about the war and to write poems.
One of these poems written by Theo Hyde, aged 9, was used by The Royal Irish Rangers Association Christmas dinner as the thought of the day.
This was very well received by those in attendance and the chairman Capt (retd) Tommy O’Brien thought it would be deserving for Theo to receive a signed framed copy from one of the Associations Officers
We were delighted that General Sir Roger Wheeler GCB, CBE was more than happy to sign a copy for Theo with the words “very well done Theo “.
The Headmaster, Mr Basinger-Adams, was extremely happy that the poem had been so well received. He agreed for it to be presented to Theo by his Grandparents during a school assembly. St John's School always encourages all of the children to achieve their very best in whatever they do.
